The Stick Lat Stretch is a flexibility exercise designed to improve the range of motion in the shoulders and upper back while stretching the latissimus dorsi. It helps to relieve tension and enhance mobility, particularly beneficial for overhead movements.

How to do it

  1. 1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a stick with both hands.
  2. 2. Bend forward at the hips, keeping the back straight and knees slightly bent.
  3. 3. Extend the arms overhead with hands resting on the stick, and press down gently to feel a stretch in the lats.
  4. 4. Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds while breathing deeply.
  5. 5. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat on the other side.
