Standing calf raises are an effective isolation exercise targeting the calf muscles. This exercise improves calf strength and definition, contributing to better balance and stability during activities like running and jumping.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart and toes facing forward.
  2. Engage core muscles and keep back straight.
  3. Raise your heels off the ground as high as possible, balancing on the balls of your feet.
  4. Hold the top position for a moment before lowering heels back down.
  5. Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.
