The standing preacher curl is an isolation exercise designed to strengthen the biceps with support from a preacher bench. It emphasizes the peak contraction of the biceps by placing them under tension throughout the movement.

How to do it

  1. Stand in front of a preacher curl bench, holding a dumbbell in one hand.
  2. Rest your upper arm on the pad with your elbow slightly bent.
  3. Curl the dumbbell upward by contracting your biceps, keeping your wrist straight.
  4. Pause at the top, then slowly lower the weight back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
