The dumbbell squat is a lower body exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps and gluteus maximus muscles. It helps improve strength, stability, and muscle endurance in the legs while also engaging the core for balance.
How to do it
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
- Bend your knees and hips to lower your body into a squat position, keeping your back straight.
- Lower until your thighs are parallel to the floor, ensuring knees don't pass your toes.
- Push through your heels to return to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
