The seated cable row is an effective exercise for targeting the upper and middle back muscles. By using a twisting motion, this variation engages the obliques alongside the back muscles, improving posture and core stability.

How to do it

  1. Sit on the ground with feet braced against the platform.
  2. Grasp the cable handle with one hand, keeping the back straight.
  3. Pull the handle towards the torso while twisting slightly to engage the obliques.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the motion, then return to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of reps, then switch arms.
