The boxing jab is a fundamental punch used in combat sports to keep opponents at bay and set up other punches. It is primarily aimed at enhancing speed, precision, and cardiovascular fitness. The motion involves quickly extending the lead hand while maintaining balance and posture.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, one foot forward.
  2. Keep hands up near the face, elbows in, and chin down.
  3. Extend the lead hand quickly, rotating the shoulder.
  4. Snap the jab straight out, keeping the fist horizontal.
  5. Quickly retract the hand, resetting to guard position.
