The barbell wide squat is a lower body exercise that targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. It improves lower body strength and stability while engaging the core for balance. This variation uses a wider stance, which emphasizes the inner thigh muscles.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width, toes slightly pointed out.
  2. Place a barbell across your upper back, gripping it firmly with both hands.
  3. Brace your core, keep chest up, and push hips back to lower into a squat.
  4. Descend until thighs are parallel to the ground, keeping knees over toes.
  5. Push through heels to return to starting position.
