The barbell upright row targets the shoulders and upper back, enhancing shoulder and upper body strength. With a barbell held in front of the thighs, the exerciser lifts it towards the chin, engaging various muscles effectively.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the barbell with an overhand grip.
  2. Keep the barbell close to the body and pull it upwards towards the chin.
  3. Keep elbows higher than wrists during the lift.
  4. Lower the barbell back to the starting position with control.
  5. Maintain a straight back and engage your core throughout.
