The standing close-grip barbell curl targets the biceps, emphasizing the brachialis and brachioradialis. This exercise is effective for building arm strength and size, as it involves lifting a barbell with a close grip, which shifts the focus primarily to the biceps brachii.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with an underhand close grip.
  2. Keep elbows close to your sides and extend your arms fully.
  3. Curl the barbell upward toward your shoulders, squeezing the biceps.
  4. Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of reps while maintaining control and posture.
