The upright row is an exercise primarily targeting the shoulders and upper back. It effectively builds strength in the deltoid muscles and trapezius, providing a balanced look to the upper body. This movement also engages the biceps for stability and support.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with an overhand grip.
  2. Lift the barbell straight up along your body until it reaches chest height.
  3. Keep elbows higher than the wrists throughout the movement.
  4. Pause briefly, then lower the barbell back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of reps.
