The reverse grip bench press is a chest exercise targeting the upper chest muscles with a reverse grip on the barbell. This variation can reduce shoulder strain and engage the triceps and forearms more effectively. It is performed lying on a bench with a barbell held with palms facing the face.
How to do it
- Lie on a bench with feet flat on the ground.
- Grasp a barbell with a reverse grip, palms facing your face, shoulder-width apart.
- Lower the barbell to your chest, keeping elbows close to your sides.
- Press the barbell back up to the starting position, fully extending elbows.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
