The barbell pause bench press is a variation of the traditional bench press that involves pausing the barbell at the bottom of the lift before pressing it back up. This exercise increases time under tension and can help improve strength and power in the chest muscles.
How to do it
- Lie flat on the bench with your feet firmly on the ground.
- Grip the barbell slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
- Lower the barbell to your chest, pausing for a moment.
- Press the barbell back up to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
