The barbell lying extension, also known as the skull crusher, targets the triceps brachii. It's an effective exercise for isolating and strengthening the triceps, which can enhance pressing movements and overall arm development.
How to do it
- Lie flat on a bench holding a barbell with a shoulder-width grip.
- Extend your arms straight above your chest, keeping the elbows in.
- Lower the barbell by bending your elbows until it is just above your forehead.
- Pause, then press the barbell back to the starting position by extending the elbows.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
