The barbell lying close-grip press is an upper body strength exercise targeting the triceps. It is performed on a bench, utilizing a narrower grip to emphasize and isolate the triceps while also engaging the chest.
How to do it
- Lie on a bench with feet flat on the floor and grasp the barbell with a close grip.
- Lift the barbell off the rack and hold it above the chest with arms fully extended.
- Lower the barbell slowly towards the lower chest, keeping elbows close to the body.
- Press the barbell back up to the starting position by extending the elbows.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps, then carefully rack the barbell.
