The barbell full squat is a compound exercise that targets the lower body, enhancing strength and stability. It primarily engages the quadriceps while also working on the glutes and hamstrings. It's effective for building lower-body muscle mass and improving core stability.

How to do it

  1. Set the barbell at shoulder height on the squat rack.
  2. Position yourself under the bar with feet shoulder-width apart.
  3. Lift the bar from the rack, stepping back.
  4. Lower your body by bending knees and hips, keeping your back straight.
  5. Push through your heels to return to standing.
