The Spine Stretch Forward is a Pilates exercise designed to enhance flexibility and mobility in the spine. It primarily benefits the rectus abdominis by promoting core engagement and improving postural alignment. This exercise also gently stretches the hamstrings and back muscles, contributing to overall flexibility.

How to do it

  1. Sit upright with legs extended, feet hip-width apart.
  2. Engage your core and reach arms forward at shoulder height.
  3. Inhale deeply; as you exhale, bend forward, articulating the spine.
  4. Reach hands toward toes while maintaining core engagement.
  5. Inhale to return to start, stacking the spine vertebra by vertebra.
