Equipment
The Smith squat is a lower body exercise using a Smith Machine to assist with stability. It targets the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings, making it effective for building leg strength and muscle mass while reducing the risk of injury due to guided movement.
How to do it
- Position the barbell of the Smith Machine at shoulder height.
- Stand under the bar with feet shoulder-width apart, resting it across your upper back.
- Unrack the bar by pushing it upward, twist to release the safety, and stabilize your core.
- Lower your body by bending your knees until thighs are parallel to the ground.
- Press through your heels to return to the starting position.
