The Smith Incline Bench Press targets the upper chest muscles, improving muscular strength and hypertrophy. Utilizing the Smith machine provides stability, allowing a controlled movement pattern that emphasizes the Pectoralis Major Clavicular Head while reducing activation of stabilizer muscles.
How to do it
- Set an adjustable bench to a 30-45 degree incline beneath the Smith machine.
- Load the desired weight on the Smith machine barbell.
- Position yourself on the bench with feet flat on the floor and grasp the barbell with a slightly wider than shoulder-width grip.
- Unrack the bar and lower it towards your upper chest while maintaining control.
- Press the bar upwards until your arms are fully extended, then repeat.
