The Smith Hang Clean is a dynamic exercise that combines strength and power, targeting the shoulders and upper body. It involves lifting a barbell from a hanging position to the shoulders, emphasizing explosive movement and muscle coordination. This exercise is beneficial for building power and muscular endurance.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the barbell at thigh level with an overhand grip.
  2. Bend slightly at the knees and hips to assume a quarter squat position.
  3. Explode upward, pulling the barbell to the shoulders and rotating the elbows underneath.
  4. Catch the barbell on the shoulders in a slight squat, then stand upright.
  5. Lower the barbell back to the starting position in a controlled manner.
