The Smith Close-Grip Bench Press targets the triceps and is performed using a Smith Machine. It is effective for building upper body strength, particularly focusing on the triceps while also engaging the chest and shoulders.

How to do it

  1. Lie back on a bench under the Smith Machine with feet flat on the floor.
  2. Grasp the bar with a close, overhand grip, keeping hands about shoulder-width apart.
  3. Lower the bar slowly to your mid-chest, keeping elbows close to your body.
  4. Press the bar back up to the starting position, fully extending your arms.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of reps, maintaining control throughout.
