The Smith Back Wide Shrug targets the muscles of the shoulders and back, particularly the trapezius. The exercise involves elevating the shoulders while maintaining a stable stance, helping to build strength and stability in the upper back and neck.
How to do it
- Stand in front of a loaded Smith Machine bar with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grasp the bar with a wide overhand grip, arms fully extended.
- Lift the bar by shrugging your shoulders up towards your ears.
- Hold the position briefly, then lower the shoulders back to the start.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
