The runner's stretch is a dynamic stretching exercise that targets flexibility and range of motion in the hips, hamstrings, and calves. It's commonly used in warm-up routines to prepare the lower body for physical activity, reduce injury risk, and improve overall performance.

How to do it

  1. Begin by standing with feet hip-width apart.
  2. Step one foot back, bending the front knee while keeping the back leg straight.
  3. Bend forward from the hips, reaching towards the toes of the front foot.
  4. Hold the stretch for a few seconds, feeling the stretch in the hamstrings and calves.
  5. Return to the standing position and repeat on the other side.
