The lever shrug is an exercise targeting the upper trapezius muscles, enhancing strength and stability in the shoulders and neck area. It involves lifting the shoulders towards the ears while holding a weight close to the body, typically performed with a leverage machine.
How to do it
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding handles of a loaded leverage machine.
- Keep arms straight, slowly lift shoulders towards ears, contracting trapezius muscles.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement.
- Lower shoulders back to starting position in a controlled manner.
- Repeat for desired number of repetitions.
