The hook kick in kickboxing is a versatile striking technique involving a circular motion with the kicking leg. It effectively engages the core, improving balance and coordination while strengthening the lower body. This technique is often used to target an opponent's head or torso in a combat or fitness setting.

How to do it

  1. Stand in a fighting stance with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Position yourself a step away from the boxing bag, with hands guarding your face.
  3. Rotate your hip and body, swinging the leg in a hooking motion toward the bag.
  4. Use the heel to strike the bag at the target point.
  5. Return to the starting position and maintain balance, ready to execute another kick or move.
