How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in one hand with an underhand grip.
  2. Keep your arm slightly bent and raise the dumbbell in front of you to shoulder height.
  3. Pause briefly at the top, then lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.
  4. Maintain a controlled motion throughout the exercise.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch arms.
