The hammer curl is a weightlifting exercise that targets the muscles of the upper arm, emphasizing the brachioradialis and biceps. It involves lifting dumbbells with a neutral grip. This movement is beneficial for building arm strength and enhancing grip.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
  2. Keep a neutral grip (palms facing each other), and maintain a straight back.
  3. Curl the dumbbells upward by bending your elbows, keeping your upper arms stationary.
  4. Raise the weights until your wrists are near shoulder height.
  5. Lower the dumbbells slowly back to the starting position.
