The cable shrug targets the upper trapezius muscles to enhance shoulder stability and strength in the upper back area. It involves lifting the shoulders upward by using a cable machine, providing constant tension throughout the movement.

How to do it

  1. Stand facing a cable machine with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold the cable handles with arms straight down by your sides.
  3. Lift your shoulders towards your ears, squeezing the trapezius muscles.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the movement.
  5. Lower your shoulders back to the starting position in a controlled manner.
