A squat is a fundamental compound exercise targeting the lower body, primarily the thighs and glutes. It is effective for building strength and muscle mass and improving overall stability and mobility.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, arms at your sides.
  2. Lower your body into a squat by bending at the knees and hips.
  3. Keep your chest up and back straight, reaching arms forward.
  4. Go down until thighs are parallel to the ground.
  5. Push through your heels to return to the starting position.
