The bodyweight squat is a fundamental exercise that strengthens the lower body, particularly the thighs and glutes. It enhances lower body muscle endurance and can improve balance and mobility.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
  2. Engage your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower down as if sitting in a chair.
  4. Go as low as your flexibility allows, keeping knees over toes.
  5. Press through heels to stand back up, squeezing glutes at the top.
