The Barbell Clean High Pull is an explosive full-body exercise that primarily targets the upper back and shoulders. It enhances strength and power, improving overall athletic performance. The movement is a combination of a deadlift and upright row, emphasizing pulling strength.

How to do it

  1. Start with feet shoulder-width apart, barbell close to shins.
  2. Grip the barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width.
  3. Execute a deadlift to lift the barbell, keeping the back straight.
  4. As the barbell reaches the thighs, explosively extend hips and pull the bar up.
  5. Finish by shrugging shoulders and pulling the barbell to chest height.
