The Smith Deadlift is a compound exercise targeting the posterior chain, particularly effective for building strength and size in the back and lower body. It uses the fixed path of a Smith Machine to stabilize the movement, making it suitable for controlled lifting.

How to do it

  1. Position feet shoulder-width apart under the Smith Machine bar.
  2. Grip the bar with an overhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width.
  3. Engage core and maintain a neutral spine as you lift the bar by extending hips and knees.
  4. Lower the bar back to the starting position with control.
  5. Repeat for desired reps, keeping the movement smooth and controlled.
