The Smith Back Shrug primarily targets the upper trapezius muscles. It involves lifting the shoulders towards the ears with a controlled movement, using a Smith Machine for stabilization. This exercise helps in building trap size and strength while improving shoulder stability.
How to do it
- Stand upright in a Smith Machine with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grip the barbell with your arms slightly wider than shoulder-width.
- Keep your arms straight and slowly shrug your shoulders upwards.
- Hold at the top momentarily, then lower your shoulders back down.
- Repeat for desired reps while keeping your core engaged.
