Lying leg abduction is an exercise that targets the hip abductors, focusing on strengthening the gluteus medius and surrounding muscles. It is beneficial for improving hip stability and strength, aiding balance and injury prevention, especially in the lower body.
How to do it
- Lie on your side with your legs straight and stacked.
- Rest your head on your arm, and place your other hand on the floor for support.
- Raise your top leg upwards while keeping it straight. Pause at the top.
- Lower your leg back down with control. Repeat for reps.
- Switch sides to work the other leg.
