Gym Exercise Card
Equipment
The lateral step-up is an exercise that focuses on improving leg strength, particularly targeting the quadriceps and glutes. It also enhances balance and coordination by requiring stability as you step up and down sideways onto a platform.
How to do it
- Stand beside a step with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Step sideways onto the step with one foot, keeping your torso upright.
- Push through the heel of the stepping foot to lift your body up.
- Bring the other foot up to meet the stepping foot.
- Step back down with the non-stepping foot, returning to the start position.
