The Barbell Single Leg Split Squat is a strength exercise focusing on unilateral leg strength and balance. It primarily targets the quadriceps while also engaging the glutes and core for stabilization. Performing this exercise can help improve balance and correct muscle imbalances.

How to do it

  1. Place a bench behind you and stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold a barbell across your upper back with an overhand grip.
  3. Position one foot back onto the bench so the top of your foot rests on it.
  4. Lower your body by bending your front knee until your thigh is parallel to the floor.
  5. Push through the heel of your front foot to return to the starting position.
