The Barbell Pause Incline Bench Press targets the upper chest with an added pause to increase time under tension and muscle engagement. It is performed by pressing a barbell from an inclined bench, pausing at the bottom of the lift to enhance muscle activation and control.

How to do it

  1. Set an incline bench and lie back, placing feet flat on the ground.
  2. Grip the barbell slightly wider than shoulder width, unracking it carefully.
  3. Lower the barbell slowly to the chest, pausing briefly just above the chest.
  4. Press the barbell back up to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
