The Barbell Pause Full Squat is a variation of the squat that emphasizes control and strength in the lower body. It involves holding a paused position at the bottom of the squat, engaging the quadriceps, glutes, and core for added muscular endurance and stability.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, barbell across the upper back.
  2. Engage core, maintain a neutral spine, and begin to squat by bending knees and hips.
  3. Pause at the bottom of the squat for a few seconds, keeping muscles engaged.
  4. Push through heels to return to standing, exhaling as you ascend.
  5. Repeat for desired repetitions, ensuring form and control.
