The barbell jump squat is a dynamic exercise designed to improve power and explosiveness in the lower body. It combines a traditional squat with an explosive jump, providing a strong cardiovascular component while engaging multiple muscle groups.

How to do it

  1. Begin standing with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell across your upper back.
  2. Lower into a squat by bending your knees and hips, keeping your chest up.
  3. Explosively drive upwards through your heels, jumping off the ground.
  4. Land softly, absorbing the impact by bending your knees.
  5. Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.
