The barbell curtsey lunge is a lower body exercise that targets the quadriceps and glutes while improving balance and coordination. It involves stepping one leg behind and across the other, lowering the body into a squat position with a barbell on the shoulders.

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, holding a barbell across your upper back.
  2. Step your right leg behind and across your left leg.
  3. Lower your hips until your left thigh is almost parallel to the ground.
  4. Push through your left heel to return to the starting position.
  5. Repeat on the other side, alternating legs.
